I use AVG Free AntiVirus security on my business laptop. I have a Windows 7 system. AVG offers a Mac version as well. It runs quietly and unobtrusively to protect me from the nasties of the internet. It also allows me to shred documents. This image shows you the alert window as I elect to empty my recycle bin. It also gives me the option to shred when I right click on a document list in the Windows Explorer window.

What else does AVG offer users?
They offer a free PC Tune Up. Here you can see the potential issues the PC Analyzer found with my laptop.
Next to the green button they are offering me a one time free fix of these issues. Hmmm - free is good! My laptop is nearing 3 years of service and with all of the new software, software upgrades, downloads, browsing, and email activity I'm pretty sure that my system performance would improve with a tune up.

This screen appeared once I clicked FIX NOW. There is a green progress bar at the bottom of the screen and green comments associated with each line item as it completes the line item task. I was most interested in cleaning up the registry which can become jumbled. This confuses the Windows operating system and drags the speed of the system down.

Once AVG's PC TuneUp has run through the complete list of areas that need attention, I was offered a special purchase price for PC TuneUp - $34 for the first year, or $60 for the first two years.
Here's a look at their nicely designed dashboard.
I did not buy PC TuneUp --- yet. I want to go through a few more weeks of running my newly optimized Windows 7 through its paces before I make the commitment. However I think this is a great product because it offers business owners a way to extend the useful life of and improve the performance of existing equipment.
