Facebook Business Page for Startups - Part II

Over one billion people like and comment an average of 3.2 billion times every day. When you have a strong presence on Facebook, your business is part of these conversations and has access to the most powerful kind of word-of-mouth marketing — recommendations between friends. from Facebook.com
Now that you have created your Facebook business page (see Facebook Business Page for Startups) let's move on to the meat of what this can do for your small business - grow your audience. Growing your audience through any social media channel is dependent on "Engaging" content. Know your audience and give them scoops, interesting facts, personal stories, tips, and opportunities to share all of the above with their friends. When your audience likes or shares your content your audience grows organically, without lifting a finger AND they are qualified connections who see value in your content.

Invite Friends to Visit Your Page

Here's my admin panel. Do you see the box that is titled INVITE FRIENDS? This is a list of people that I am connected to through my personal page. I can click on the INVITE button and invite each of them to my business page! If they choose to view my page they can also LIKE my page. 

This is where I grow my audience without lifting a finger. When they LIKE my page (or a posting on my page) a notification will appear on their timeline which will show their Facebook friends a link to my business page.

Advertising on Facebook

Here are some published success stories from Facebook business users. There are 9 companies profiled: services, food and beverage, education, retail and photography. Two companies were specifically working to increase local awareness. One, a diaper service, was able to double their viewership and handily cover the cost of the paid advertising. Another company, a sandwich shop, also doubled their viewership and were rewarded with 100 customers who chose to redeem their online coupon.

Promoted Posts advertising is reserved for businesses with 100+ Fans (Likes). 

If you have less than 100 fans do not despair! You are able to advertise as well. The process is fairly simple through Woobox. Please read my blog post (June 2013) regarding this company's coupon service.






Facebook now offers new ways to target your advertising to a more focused audience.
Through a new widget called a tracking pixel  businesses can learn more about their audience and through new tools, Custom and Lookalike Audience, an ad will find its way to the right members of your audience.
